Merry Christmas
Jeremy and I got Logan Christmas gifts this year - it was really exciting and fun. He opened my gifts to her and I opened his gifts to her. We also got each other a gift from Logan. It was so cool. I can't wait until next year when she is actually here and we can buy stuff for her and she has gifts to open herself.
We already have cute stuff for her. Now we need to get her room ready so we have a place to put all this stuff!
We can't wait until next year when she is here to enjoy our Christmas tradition with us! I am really looking forward to having our own traditions, including ALWAYS waking up at our house on Christmas day. This was the best part of Christmas for me and my siblings and we want Logan to have the same experience. Life is grand and we can't wait to meet her!

It's a girl!!!
This morning, Jeremy and I found out we were having a girl! We are so excited!
Before the ultrasound tech started looking around, she wanted to make sure we wanted to know the gender. We told her yes!! She started looking around and finally made it to the "parts" and it was very evident that it was a girl!!! We have some really good pictures and also a video. The doctor came in a little bit later and went through the ultrasound, took measurements and said that everything looks really good. She is measuring about 9 ounces and we are right on track for a May delivery.
Once we left, we called my mom and told her. I wanted to try to trick her and tell her it was a boy because she was so darn sure it was a girl, but she didn't fall for it. Then started the chain of calling all of our family. It was so fun to hear everyone's reactions - they were all so excited - except for a few. But it was so nice to give everyone the good news.
We are naming her Logan, she doesn't have a middle name yet, so we have to decide on that. She has been moving around like crazy. It so amazing to feel her move. Jeremy is very anxious to feel her as well. I can't wait until he can experience it too. It is the best feeling in the world!
It is kind of surreal that in about 21 1/2 weeks we will have a baby in the house. My good friends are planning the baby shower and now they know it's a girl, they are soooo excited to have everything "all girl" My sister and mom have already bought clothes for her. My sister showed me some of the cute onesies they bought and boy are they adorable!! I went looking today for an outfit for Logan, but didn't find one that I wanted to buy. The search will continue tomorrow and every day thereafter until I find her the perfect outfit!

15 weeks
Today I am 15 weeks along. I've got a bump, visible in clothing.
I get an email weekly from babycenter.com that tells me what is going on this week in pregnancy. They are always comparing the size of the baby to a fruit. This week, Speck is the size of an apple, about 4 inches long and weighs about 2 1/2 ounces. I think it is so amazing how much speck is growing and I am getting more and more excited about meeting speck!
In just 3 short weeks, we will know the gender of this baby. Lots will be determined then, such as name, room color and what we will end up registering for! I am looking forward to doing all this fun stuff. I have resisted buying anything for this child (except diapers) until I know the gender. Once I do, I will probably buy a cute outfit of some sort.

14 weeks and some updates
October 26th, I had my first glance at speck. Jeremy and I were so excited! The feeling of seeing our baby for the first time was AMAZING!
We got to the place for the ultrasound, and they took up back to this room to talk to us about first trimester screenings. They draw blood from me and then take measurements on the baby from the ultrasound and then from all the results they put together my risk for this baby having down's syndrome, trisomy 21 and some other genetic disorders. The nurse left us to get the room ready and while we were in there, Jeremy and I talked about going ahead and doing the screening, just so we are prepared. Once we went in the room for the ultrasound, I laid down on the bed and waited on the tech to come in. The room was set up with the machine by the bed and then a huge 36" TV on the wall across from the bed. The tech found the heartbeat and the baby and then turned on the TV for Jeremy and I see speck! OMG. It was so AMAZING and words can't describe how we felt looking at our baby on the screen. It was so cool to see speck bouncing around, waving arms around, and it seemed that speck had long legs! The heart rate was 163 and she said things looked good. We gave her a DVD to record the ultrasound and she also gave us some pictures. The doctor came in and took the measurements of neck and stuff and said that speck looked perfect. When he was just about done, he asked if the tech told us the gender of the baby. I said No, but then asked him if he could tell. He said he could and asked if we wanted to know. We did. He said he thinks it's a girl. He said, "Now don't go buying a bunch of pink stuff, we are about 80% accurate when we guess the gender at this age" So now we have to wait until December 7th to find out for sure. We are really excited.
Later that day, Jeremy and I came home and watched the video from the ultrasound. It was just so cool. I skyped with my mom later that evening and we played the DVD on our TV and I put the computer (webcam) on the TV and she was able to see the ultrasound. She loved it! It was the best thing in the whole world to be able to share that with her. We also shared with with my grandma as well. We called Jeremy's dad and step mom to tell them about the ultrasound and told them about skype. They said they would look into it.
I am getting more and more excited about this baby coming and I can't wait to meet speck!!!
On a different note, I am now 14 weeks and 1 day. I am feeling pretty good. I am feeling like I am getting a little bigger and kind of can't wait until I get a baby bump. I went looking for clothes the other day and am struggling because I don't fit into maternity clothes and my current clothes are getting too tight. I am going to go shopping again this weekend with a friend to hopefully find some clothes!
Oh and another nice surprise....Sunday, I went out the front door to take out the trash and I noticed a box on my front porch. It was a little care package from my brother and sister in law and niece. It had a blanket, bib, toy and 3 gender neutral onesies and a thermometer. I told Jeremy how cool that was and that would be one less thing we need to get. This child will be so loved and spoiled!

9 weeks
Today I am 9 weeks and 3 days. Time is passing quickly. It seems like yesterday I just found out I was pregnant.
Monday I saw my new doctor. I love her! I am so glad I decided to switch. She was very informative and answered all my questions. I had lots of questions. My biggest fear is having to have a c-section due to the doctors inability to let things progress naturally. So I asked her what her take on c-sections was and she said that they only do one if the baby is in danger or there is some other complication that puts either life at risk. It was reassuring, as I don't want to have to have a c-section. She also told me that I am very healthy, and since I don't have any health problems, she expected a pretty healthy pregnancy.
They also told me that starting at 11 weeks, they listen to the heartbeat every visit. Oh, and I go every 4 weeks until so many weeks, then I start going every 2 weeks, then every week. Sounds so exciting!
We have our first ultrasound in 3 weeks - seems to far away.
There are a few things we need to get done and start thinking about:
1. Daycare - calling around and putting our name on a waiting list for daycares and then scheduling a tour and ruling out ones that we don't want to go to
2. Finding a pediatrician - interviewing and deciding which ones are accepting new patients and who we would like to use.
3. Re-arranging the rooms - making the guest room the babys room and the scrapbooking room the guest room. We will probably start to do more of this when we know the baby's gender so we can paint and get things set up.
That's all I can think of for now - I'm sure I'll think of more later.
So as far as how I'm feeling, I'm feeling okay. Still have bouts of nausea, but mostly at night. I haven't had any particular cravings yet, but I've tried eating Italian food a few times (my favorite) and it now doesn't appeal to me at all. I did eat a jar of pickles in 2 days - I couldn't resist them, they tasted sooooo good!
I'll post some pics soon - mabye ;-)

New Doctor
Yesterday, I went to see the new doctor. Well, I actually visited with the nurse, and I really like her and the office! I got in to my appointment on time, the waiting room was quiet and the office wasn't very busy. The nurse spent about 45 minutes with me, getting a health history and going over other information with me.
Before I left, she set me up for an appointment with the doctor in 3 weeks, and also for an ultrasound the end of October.
After my appointment, I had to go get lab drawn - she drew about 10 vials of blood!!! Crazy!!
I left the appointment with an book about pregnancy and development, prenatal vitamins (free samples of ones that I was already taking), and just some other information about safe medications to take.
When I went to check out of the office, the nurse was telling me what my insurance would cover and pay for, and she then told me that the cost of the delivery is $2345, and I pay 20% of that! Wow. She said they do a payment plan over 6 months to pay it. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was kind of caught off guard with that information. I guess the expenses are going to add up. BUT - the end product it totally worth it!
I've started feeling some nausea throughout the day. I've found that if I keep my stomach full and eat foods high in protein, I don't have nausea problems. Here is a conversation that took place the other day between Jeremy and I
Me: Gosh, I hate feeling like crap"
Jeremy: "Well, you asked for it" (laughing)
Me: "What"? You wanted kids too!
Jeremy: "I know" (laughing) "Sorry you aren't feeling good"
Totally cute and just made me laugh.
So, in telling people that I am pregnant, there has been one major thing that people ask me, that is really getting on my nerves, and makes me wonder if they have any tact. The phrase I'd like to punch people for asking me, is "Was that planned?" Seriously! Really!! Do you need to ask that??? What difference does that even make???
I have had about 10 people ask me that and I want to punch them when they do. Very rude! I've also been warned that it doesn't get any better, that people still continue to do and ask rude things while your pregnant.
This could get interesting!
Overall, besides the nausea, I'm feeling pretty good. Oh, and more pics to come in a few days!

Switching doctors
I called a new doctor yesterday. The receptionist was very nice and I asked her a lot of questions about this lady. I have an appointment scheduled for next Tuesday, and at this appointment, I meet with the nurse, go over history, have blood drawn, etc. She said we then schedule an appointment for about 2 weeks out with the doctor and she does and exam and testing (which I already had done) and I told her that, so she said that we will skip that and go to an ultrasound!! I am really excited. On Sunday I will be 6 weeks, and by the time I have an ultrasound, I will be 8 weeks. I still feel like time is going by slowly. Sometimes I wish I hadn't found out so early, but since I am impatient, I don't know what else I would expect from myself!
On another note, I spoke with my mom yesterday and she is sooooooo excited about this baby. For the past 6 months, she has joked that she wants to move to OK. I keep telling her not to joke, but I think she is half serious, half joking. Yesterday she told me she was going to move here. That would be so cool if she did - then our baby would have a grandparent that is close!! My mom also bought this baby his/her first outfit! She thinks she knows the gender already, but time will tell. She also expressed that she is really excited to see Winnie the Pooh grow. If you saw my previous post of my belly picture, then you saw a tattoo of Winnie the Pooh - he will be growing!! I can't wait - and neither can my mom! (or sister)

5 weeks
I am 5 weeks today. Still feeling pretty good, just tired most of the time. I go to bed between 9 and 10, and am getting plenty of rest.
I read that little specs heart is forming and we should be able to hear the heartbeat by ultrasound this week. So cool to think about what's going on.
All of our family now knows, with the exception of a few people that we haven't been able to get a hold of. I've gotten a few offers of family to come out and help after the baby is born - and I told Jeremy that I would be taking people up on those offers!! We are so blessed to have a big family, who is also supportive and excited.
I've been thinking more and more about just changing doctors. I've talked to a few people and gotten some opinions, and really think that this week I may go ahead and schedule an appointment with another doctor. My fear is that I'll spend a few months finding the right doctor, but I guess I would rather do that than be unhappy with one. I've heard really good things about a few doctors at OU and Mercy. There is also a doctor near my office, and right across the street from the Healthplex, who I'm also considering. I will probably call one of them this week to schedule and appointment.
Yesterday, I went to Kohl's to spend a gift card I had gotten for my birthday. I walked out with some socks, a new pair of shoes and a photo board. I texted my mom and told her that I managed to get away and didn't go near the baby section. She asked how I managed that, and I told her that I just didn't walk by it. Right now I don't have the urge to by anything. I think it is probably too soon. My mom expressed that she is so excited and keeps thinking about the fact that she will be a grandma.
Life is good!

Doctor Visit Update
On Tuesday, Jeremy and I went to the doctor's office for our first visit. Our appointment was for 11:30, and we got there on time. I filled out all the essential paperwork. We waited for a long time to go back, well it seemed like an eternity because I had to pee and I knew I would have to pee in a cup. Finally, we go back and I get weighed and use the restroom. The nurse takes me back to the room and she takes my vitals, and then we wait and wait and wait……
Finally the doctor comes in. This is the first time I've met her, and Jeremy as well. She is really quiet and doesn't really talk much. She asked me some history questions and then did my exam and said, "well, congratulations" She asked me if I had any questions, and I did not. She said she would have my blood drawn and then they would call me in the next few days with the results so we can schedule a day for our first ultrasound. That date would be determined by my hormone levels.
We went back, the lab lady drew my blood and we were almost out of there. The nurse handed me a little bag of goodies, that had pre-natal vitamin samples, magazines and special offers in it.
We left the office and went to grab a quick bite to eat. Over lunch, Jeremy and I talked about when we were going to tell our family. My mom already knew, so it was a matter of telling our dads, siblings, his mom, and extended family. We decided that we would call and tell his dad because we told him he would be the 2nd to know. Once we got out of the restaurant, I dialed Larry's number. He answered the phone and I said, "Can I please speak to Grandma Mason" and he said, "Speaking" That's when we told him we were expecting and he would be a grandpa. He was really excited. After that I called my grandma, dad, Jeremy's family and all our siblings. By the end of the day we had told pretty much our entire family. Everyone was so excited for us.
Some of the reactions were priceless, and I wish I could have told them in person. I told Ashleigh and she screamed, and said that she just scared all the people on the light rail. I told Adam that he was going to be an uncle and he said, "that's so cool"! and Austin said, "Are you serious" and Jamie screamed with excitement. Telling our family has been really exciting.
We are looking forward to the next 35 ½ weeks and I hope that they don't go by too quickly.
4 weeks 4 days |
4 weeks
Today (8/30) I am 4 weeks and 1 day. I called the doctor to make an appointment. My OB that I usually see is not doing OB anymore, but still doing GYN. There is a new doctor in her office – I can't remember her name – but I am seeing her tomorrow morning at 11:30. Jeremy is excited and wants to come with me. He has the day off and plans on meeting me there.
It is so hard keeping this a secret – I want to just tell everyone, but then I think that it is better that I wait. I think everyone will be excited for us. One of our good friends has been trying for a while, about 4 months and she is not pregnant yet. I feel bad for when we have to tell her. I also have a co-worker that has been trying for years, and nothing yet. I know they will be happy for us. I think a good friend of mine has an idea that we are pregnant, but hasn't come right out and asked yet. We have been on the same cycle for a while and she started on Friday and knows that I was supposed to start on Sunday. She asked me this morning if I had started yet, or felt like I was going to and I just told her no but I've usually started a day or two after I'm supposed to. It's a good thing we have our appointment tomorrow.
I'm still working out, not having any problems with that. Mainly, I feel tired and in the afternoon, I seem to drag a little bit. I feel like I need a caffeine pick me up, but haven't been drinking soda for a long time. I've now given up coffee and mainly drinking tea, lemonade and water.
I've talked to my mom almost every day since I found out, and she's really excited. She is in Florida right now, but plans on coming to OK hopefully a few times before I give birth!
A better picture of the positive test! |
We’re pregnant 8-28-2010
For the past week, I've been feeling kind of weird. Dizzy at times, a little hungrier than usual, really tired while working out and last of all breast tenderness like nothing I've ever felt before. I am due to start my period on Sunday, but I figured on Friday that if I was pregnant, a test might pick it up. My thought was that we are supposed to go out to dinner on Saturday night and I want to make sure it's safe to drink. Well I haven't had any cramps (like I usually have a few days before I start my period) and I haven't been felling myself. So after I got home, I called Jeremy around 6 to make sure he was on his way home, and he told me he was. I told him that I wanted to take a pregnancy test when he got home. I really had to pee, but I held it until he got home. I took the test and there was a really faint line visible to make it positive. I was convinced based on everything I had been feeling, but Jeremy wasn't for sure. He thought the test might look like the picture on the box. I told him I would take another one in the morning when the test would should the best result. This morning, I woke up about 5:15 and had to pee, so I peed on the stick and it was positive. This time the plus sign was very prominent. I crawled back in bed and told Jeremy it was positive and he said, "OK" He was still sleeping. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up, came into the living room and played around on the computer for a little bit. When I heard the alarm go off, I went back into the bedroom. After Jeremy got up, I asked if he looked at the test, he said, "Yes" and then I asked if I could at least call and tell my mom and he said that was fine. I called her and she was really excited. The plan is to call the doctor on Monday and make an appt for a blood test, and then once we get the results we will tell my father in law. Then when we are ready to tell everyone, we will tell the rest of our families and friends!
We are so excited. I've calculated my EDC and it is May 8, 2011. That date may change depending on the what the doctor says, but either way – we will be parents next year!!!
This morning, after Jeremy got up and ready for work, I went into the kitchen to do dishes and start some laundry. Jeremy came in there and gave me a hug and then said to the cats, "Girls, we will have a little rug rat running around, we've got to get the house in order" That put a huge smile on my face. Then, as he went to leave the house, he said to me, "Take care of the spec" LOL I laughed and also thought that was so cute!
I've downloaded a pregnancy app on my phone and it says that I am 3 weeks and 6 days today.
