14 weeks and some updates

October 26th, I had my first glance at speck. Jeremy and I were so excited! The feeling of seeing our baby for the first time was AMAZING!
We got to the place for the ultrasound, and they took up back to this room to talk to us about first trimester screenings. They draw blood from me and then take measurements on the baby from the ultrasound and then from all the results they put together my risk for this baby having down's syndrome, trisomy 21 and some other genetic disorders. The nurse left us to get the room ready and while we were in there, Jeremy and I talked about going ahead and doing the screening, just so we are prepared. Once we went in the room for the ultrasound, I laid down on the bed and waited on the tech to come in. The room was set up with the machine by the bed and then a huge 36" TV on the wall across from the bed. The tech found the heartbeat and the baby and then turned on the TV for Jeremy and I see speck! OMG. It was so AMAZING and words can't describe how we felt looking at our baby on the screen. It was so cool to see speck bouncing around, waving arms around, and it seemed that speck had long legs! The heart rate was 163 and she said things looked good. We gave her a DVD to record the ultrasound and she also gave us some pictures. The doctor came in and took the measurements of neck and stuff and said that speck looked perfect. When he was just about done, he asked if the tech told us the gender of the baby. I said No, but then asked him if he could tell. He said he could and asked if we wanted to know. We did. He said he thinks it's a girl. He said, "Now don't go buying a bunch of pink stuff, we are about 80% accurate when we guess the gender at this age" So now we have to wait until December 7th to find out for sure. We are really excited.
Later that day, Jeremy and I came home and watched the video from the ultrasound. It was just so cool. I skyped with my mom later that evening and we played the DVD on our TV and I put the computer (webcam) on the TV and she was able to see the ultrasound. She loved it! It was the best thing in the whole world to be able to share that with her. We also shared with with my grandma as well. We called Jeremy's dad and step mom to tell them about the ultrasound and told them about skype. They said they would look into it.
I am getting more and more excited about this baby coming and I can't wait to meet speck!!!

On a different note, I am now 14 weeks and 1 day. I am feeling pretty good. I am feeling like I am getting a little bigger and kind of can't wait until I get a baby bump. I went looking for clothes the other day and am struggling because I don't fit into maternity clothes and my current clothes are getting too tight. I am going to go shopping again this weekend with a friend to hopefully find some clothes!

Oh and another nice surprise....Sunday, I went out the front door to take out the trash and I noticed a box on my front porch. It was a little care package from my brother and sister in law and niece. It had a blanket, bib, toy and 3 gender neutral onesies and a thermometer. I told Jeremy how cool that was and that would be one less thing we need to get. This child will be so loved and spoiled!

  1. Hi I'm Speck's Grandma! I have to say that when I found out my daughter was pregnant it was such delightful news. This is a feeling that one cannot really describe until you actually go through it. To see the one person I gave life to giving life to someone else is just incredible. To know that life is growing inside my girl and the fact that she is sharing it with me is so rewarding I have no words to express.... I have some strange intuition that this baby is a girl from the moment she told me. I can't explain it but it is just something that I "just know". I went out and bought a cute little outfit that says "I love Grandma" and have since been picking up little things here and there as to make sure I spoil this girl like a Grandmother should!

When Natashia and Jeremy SKYPED with me and showed the baby on their huge TV I was just amazed. Life inside my baby girl.... WOW... I had a part in that... I mean without me she wouldn't be and nor would the baby... what a cycle of life! AND that I am such a big part of her life is even more rewarding. I am so grateful that I am so close with my daughter and am getting to share this experience with her. Technology is amazing and is making all of this possible.

Natashia and Jeremy are going to be great parents! They have waited for a long time and everything is falling into place. I love them both and can't wait to meet my grandchild!
