Work Shower

My work threw me a shower last week - it was really nice and we got a lot of good stuff!
Jeremy and I are really appreciative of everything we got, as we pretty much got everything we needed for Logan.
We played a couple games - one of them was everyone had to guess the size of my belly by cutting the string. It was fun to see how long everyone's string was! We also played a word scramble and the diaper pin game where you couldn't say the word "baby". The decorations were awesome and matched her room theme and the cake was delicious. It came from Target and boy was is good!
Here are a few pics from the event

Not a happy girl!

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my weekly doctors visit. All in all, I left not so happy!
My last weeks visit was fine, I had gained the appropriate amount of weight and I was dilated about a fingertip. This weeks, I gained 10 pounds! Where? I imagine it's all water. You see I've been swelling more and more lately, and now it's become a permanent fixture. Joy! So on with the visit, the nurse checked my blood pressure, it was fine, baby's heartbeat 146 - great! I asked the nurse if the doctor was going to check me today and she said that she typically does that again at 39 weeks, but she said the doctor could if I wanted her to. So I explained that Jeremy was going out of town this weekend and I wanted peace of mind that I wasn't progressing too much and I might make it through the weekend without going into labor. So, the doctor checked me and I'm 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced - I'm making progress! So, onto the swelling issue - the doctor asked how much I was working, I told her 40 hours, she then proceeded to tell me that when I am home, I am to be on bed rest and DO NOTHING! WHAT? Yes - no more "6 hour trips to target" (LOL) and no more cleaning, cooking, decorating the nursery or doing anything that requires me to be on my feet. She then tells me that when I come in for my visit next Monday, if my BP is high, the nurses will, per her instructions I will be taken out of work. My doctor will be out of town next week. So, with that being said, I have decided to take a few half days throughout the week to help with relaxation and the swelling, because the last thing I want is to jeopardize my health or Logan's health in any way.
I left the appointment bummed, it's really hard to be told to go home and do nothing, especially when you know you have tons of stuff to do and get done.
Jeremy picked up the crib furniture last night, he will be assembling it tonight. He leaves Friday morning to go on a motorcycle trip with his friends and won't be back until Sunday. My mom comes into town tomorrow night and goes back home on Monday morning. I'm excited she will be here, there is so much stuff I was wanting to get done with her here - like finishing the nursery, buying some additional things we will need to cloth diaper, wash Logan's clothes, etc. But, it looks like some some that will have to be done by me supervising. So not happy, but I will make it work.
On a happier note - my due date is 17 days away!! I really can't believe it's almost here!!! Jeremy and I are getting really excited to meet miss Logan!

Crib is ordered!

Yesterday after work, I went to Babies R Us and ordered the crib and dresser!
They should be here next week, and I am excited. I'm hoping it gets here before my mom comes in town, so she can help me put the finishing touches on Logan's room.
Here is a sneak peak of the furniture we ordered
This is the color we ordered too - it's Cherry!
The room is also painted, the chair rail is up. We just need to paint the chair rail. Once that is done, the painting will be done and then we finish everything else up!
I am feeling good about all the progress we are making,

Cloth Diaper

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.8

Cloth Diapers are not what they used to be. At our shower last Saturday, Jeremy's cousin started showing us her new thing she started - using cloth diapers. She pulled a couple out and was showing us how they worked. It definitely piqued our interest. We talked about it on the way home and decided that we needed to do a little research on them. So I did just that. I found many forums and different websites that had information about the cloth diapers. I also asked a friend that I went to high school with that just had her baby and was using them how she liked them. The general consensus was that everyone who was using them, really liked them. The big deciding factor for us was, would our daycare allow cloth diapers? So I called them on Monday and the owner said they did, as long as they had the waterproof outside cover, and they all do!
The great thing about these diapers is they are all in one and have 2 inserts that come with them. The legs had elastic that can be adjusted as the baby grows and the waist does the same thing. I found a local store in OKC that sells them, so I stopped by there today to play with them and get a little more information. I ended up buying 2 diapers. I am very excited about trying this out, and also excited about the amount of money it will save us. These can be used all the way up until they are potty training! The other great part about this, is Jeremy is 100% on board with this. So much so, he even wants to use cloth wipes too! Not sure if I'm sold on this, but we will see!

Maternity Pictures

Today, my friend Misty took some maternity pictures of me and Jeremy. We went to the park and took some there and then took a few back at the house. I am so excited to see how they turn out. She said it would be about a week before I get them....Can't wait!

We finally have a middle name

After much deliberation and thinking and debating and thinking, we finally decided to name her Logan Mckenzie. It only took up 9 months, or so it seems that it took that long.
Jeremy and I have been going back and forth about different names that we liked and found it very difficult to decide on a name that we both liked. The other day, I was filling out the pre-registeration packet for the hospital and there is a form in there for you to put the child's name. I asked Jeremy if he had given any more thought to a middle name that he liked. I got another sheet of paper out and we proceeded to list all the names that we liked or had come up with and then started crossing them off one by one as we realized we didn't like them. We came up with Mckenzie and both of us expressed that we liked the name. The next issue was, how do we spell it? I wrote out all the ways to spell Mckenzie, and liked the one we chose the best.
I am so relieved to have finally decided on a middle name. There was much joking between us about her just not having a middle name and her initials would be LNMNM (Logan No Middle Name Mason) Ha!!! As funny as that sounds, it really wasn't!
So, in 29 days, give or take a few, little miss Logan Mckenzie will be gracing us with her presence. I can't believe it's so soon!!
