First plane flight

On Thursday, Jeremy, Logan and I left for Utah. This was Logan's first plane flight. She did great. I was able to feed her when we were takking off and then she slept for the majority of the flight. When it was time to land, I tried to feed her again, but she wasn't interested. Jeremy held her and she didn't have any problems at all. This picture was taken after we landed. We were on our way to pick up our bags. I think she was just taking it all in. I am glad she did well because this is our first of many flights with her. She is going to be a little world travler before she's one year old!

2 month check up

Yesterday Logan had her 2 month check up. She was actually 7 weeks and 3 days. It was early because we are leaving on the 7th to go to Utah to visit my in-laws and she had to have her shots before we traveled. So, here are the specs on Logan. She now weighs 12lbs 5ozs (92nd percentile) and is 23 3/4 inches long (95th percentile) and her head circumference is 15 inches (42nd percentile). She is perfect and healthy. She is getting so big and growing so fast I can't believe it. Some of the milestones she is supposed to reach by 2 months old are: laying on belly and holding her head up 90 degrees (she does this), she is supposed to track objects (she does this) and she is supposed to be cooing and talking (she does this as well) all before her being 2 months old. She has been doing all of the above for a few weeks now. She is so smart and amazes me every day.
She is sleeping in her crib, mostly just at night. She sleeps anywhere from 4-6 hours through the night. I think we are finally getting close to her sleeping all the way through the night. I hope for my sake that happens soon because I do have to go back to work in a few weeks. She loves playing with her "friends". I have 2 toys on her changing table (a duck and a bear) that we alternate playing with her every week. She smiles when she sees them. She also enjoys her bathtime, it seems to clam her down. In fact, she usually cries when I take her out. I also use a couple of different bath toys to entertain her and play with (a duck and a star) she loves them both! She no longer wears newborn clothes, I had to pack all those away. She now wears her 3 month clothes. Some of those are getting too tight. She is to the point where her footie pajamas in that size are too tight for her (length wise) so we will be putting those away too. Logan is a mama's girl, she loves spending time with me. She does real well when we take her places.
A few weeks ago, Logan started having more crying episodes and was getting cranky and fussy and acted like something bothered her. Well, the doctor told me to cut out all dairy, and I did, and it helped some. But we still took her in to be seen and they are currently treating her for reflux. She has been doing great being on the medicine. I'm hoping that she won't need it for long and me not eating any dairy will just be enough. It's hard not having dairy, but totally worth it to have a happy baby. Our next appointment with the doctor will be our 4 month check up. Can't wait to see the progress she has made by then ;)

1 month old

Today Logan is 1 month old, it's amazing how time flies. I feel like it was just yesterday that I gave birth to her. It is amazing how much you can love something. She is so sweet, and precious and I love her to death. She is loved by her family and friends so much.
She changes every day, and I am amazed at how much one person can change in that short amount of time. Logan is the most amazing person, ever!
She was 8lbs 4ozs and 19 inches long when she was born, and as of June 6th she weighed 10lbs 5ozs and was 22 1/2 inches long. She eats like a champ (as you can tell) and loves being held and spoiled. She has many different expressions and quite the little personality. She has been smiling since the day she was born and also has been holding her head quite well. Just in the past few weeks, she has gotten stronger at holding her head up. She loves taking a bath and when she hears the water running, she gets real calm. She doesn't like having her hair washed, but hopefully that will change.
There is a mobile on her crib that she absolutely loves the little bugs that hang down, she will smile at them while she gets her diaper changed. She sleeps in her crib (most of the time) but also loves cuddling with her mom and dad. She loves to look at her surroundings.
Her eye color is yet to be determined, but it looks like they change from blue to hazel and back to blue. She was born with a head full of hair, and she still has all her hair, and it's dark.
I have a few nicknames for her, they include: milky face and snacker. Jeremy likes to call her sweetie. My mom has nicknamed her "Monkey" Logan is so smart, she recognizes voices. She recognized my moms voice from the first time she heard it (which was via skype) Mom and I would skype while I was pregnant and she would talk to my belly. Now Logan knows my mom by her voice. She took right to her when she came to visit and held her for the first time.
We are slowly settling into a routine and I'm hoping by the time I go back to work, we will be on a set schedule. Logan is great about letting us know what she wants and really is a good baby. She is so sweet and precious. I love her so much and am excited to see what she brings us next.

Time to go home

So on my 3rd day in the hospital, I was ready to get the heck out of there. I woke up a little early, got showered and ready, and called the nursery for them to bring Logan to me. The doctor made rounds and dismissed me, the pediatrician made rounds and gave Logan a clean bill of health. She weighed in at 7lbs 11ozs. They said that was really good, beings that most babies loose about 10% of their birth weight. I ate breakfast, and they finally brought Logan to me. I fed her, which she ate forever, and finally about 10am I called the nursery and let them know I was ready to cut her bands. The nurse came in and clipped all of our bands and then my nurse came in and called for the transport people to wheel me downstairs. I couldn't believe we were finally bringing her home. All I could think was, "where is my instruction manual?"

Sleeping and ready to go home!

The car ride home was good. I sat in the back seat with her, just in case she decided to act up or cry or get fussy. She did really good and slept the whole time. We were home by 11am. Larry and Twila were at the house and they got it all straightened up and ready for Logan to be home. We showed her around the house and introduced her to her room. She really likes her room!
I just can't believe we finally have her home. We have waited 9 months for her to be here and she was finally here. We were so happy!

More visitors and 1 day old

The next day in the hospital, we had a few more visitors. The picture people came by and took some pictures of her and of course Jeremy and I took pictures of her too!

We had all of our visitors at once on the particular day. Logan was very overwhelmed with all the excitement. She was also eating very well. It seems that all she did was eat and sleep.

After I was brought upstairs to the postpartum unit, I got settled in my room. The nursery came and took Logan so they could do stuff with her and I took a shower and get settled. I also ordered lunch, as it was before noon and I was hungry. I was glad I only missed one meal (breakfast). Our first visitor was Brian, Jeremy's cousin. Then we had Aunt Sherry, Aunt Christy and Veda (their friend). Lori came by followed by Leah and Baxter and Bird. Everyone loved getting to see her. She cried quite a bit though. This was the day that I discovered that little miss Logan likes to eat. She would nurse about every 1-2 hours and for about an hour at a time. She was a hungry girl! I don't think I got that much sleep, she was up quite a bit throughout the night just eating away.

My Birth Story May 9, 2011

Here is the story of Logan's birth
On May 8th, I left the house about 11:20 to get to the hospital by 11:45 for my induction. I was really nervous because I didn't know what to expect. I had been having contractions throughout the day and was really sure that I had made some progress and was dilated more than 1 cm. I will tell you though, I was ready to have this baby. Once we arrived at the hospital, I was told I couldn't check in until midnight, so Jeremy and I had to wait about 20 minutes until they could check us in. At 12am, I got my papers and proceeded upstairs to the 2nd floor where I would be prepped for the induction. The nurse showed me to my room, told me to get changed into the gown and that she would be right back with me. I changed and sat down in the bed. There was a bedside table next to the bed that had some papers on it, so I started reading through those. I waited for the nurse to come back. She finally came back about 12:30 or so and had me sign the papers I had read through, and asked me questions, started my IV and hung some IV fluids up for me. At 1am she told me she was going to put the pill on my cervix to help it dilate and that if I needed to use the bathroom, this was my last chance. After I got back in bed, she checked me and said I was only a 1.5cm dilated. I was kind of bummed because after all the contractions I had been having, I was sure I was more dilated than that. Time passed by and I tried to get some sleep, but it was hard because I kept having to use the bathroom (because of the fluids) and I was also having more intense contractions. I was really trying hard to use my breathing techniques that I learned in birthing class, but it was really hard. Jeremy woke up a few times and asked how I was doing, and after a few times of telling him, "OK" I told him that he needed to come close to the bed because I was having a lot of pain. About 5am, the nurse nurse came back in and said he had to put another pill on my cervix and also check me. I told her that I was having quite a bit of pain and she said that I couldn't have anything for pain until I was dilated to a 3 or 4. She checked me and I was dilated to a 3 - 3.5, so I took some pain medicine. About 5:15 my water broke. What a feeling. I was so glad it broke on it's own! Around 6:30 the new nurse came on duty and she said she had to check me, by this time I was 4 cm dilated and I quickly told her that I wanted an epidural. I had the epidural within the hour and by 7:30am I was 7cm dilated. The nurse told me that I was going to have a baby that morning. I was just in shock. I was really happy once the epidural took effect. About 9:20 she checked me again because I was having real regular contractions and I was dilated to a 10. She told me it was time to start pushing. I pushed to a point that the doctor needed to be there, and so she called for the doctor and Logan Mckenize Mason was born at 10:06am. They put her on my chest and Jeremy cut the cord. They cleaned her mouth and nose out and were really rubbing her back to get her to cry good. She finally started crying, and after a mintue, they took her to the warmer and started doing what they needed to do. She was 8lbs 3ozs and 19.5 inches long, The doctor asked me where I was hiding her! I don't know how much I expected her to weigh, but I don't think I expected an 8lb baby. Once they weighed her and stuff, the wrapped her up and put her back in my arms. Her face was bruised, the nurse said the cord was wrapped around her neck when she was born :-/ I'm glad she was OK. She also busted blood vessels in her eyes on her way out. You can't really tell unless her eyes are wide open.
After they put her back in my arms, the first thing I wanted to do was try to feed her. She was rooting and acted like she was really hungry, so I was able to feed her within the first hour she was born. Jeremy sent a text to our family and also took some pictures. His dad and step mom came by before I got transferred up to the 3rd floor and they got to hold her. I couldn't believe I just had a baby! Wow!

Sugar Plum Nursery

2 weekends ago, my mom came to town to spend a quick weekend with me while Jeremy went on a motorcycle trip with his friends. She came in late Friday night and left early Monday morning. I had been told by the doctor to take it easy and keep my feet up, so my mom came to stay to make sure I was fine. While she was here, we got Logan's room ready and decorated. On Saturday, we ran a few errands and came home and put all her stuff away. On Sunday, we ran a few more errands and then came home and my mom finished decorating the nursery.
Here are some pictures from her room
